Needs Assessment
This involves investigating your impressions of the training
or performance problem. Needs assessment clearly defines the current
situation, the optimal situation, and the nature of the gap that
lies between where you are and where you want to be. Aprinda will gather information using strategies that can
include interviewing employees, reviewing company documentation
and observing employee task performance.
Aprindas findings may concur with your initial
perceptions. On the other hand, Aprinda may have
discovered information that suggests alternative routes to a solution.
This is the purpose of the needs assessment - to explore your
initial perceptions of a problem and recommend a solution. The
product of the needs assessment is a document describing:
- The nature of the problem
- Aprindas method of gathering information
- Results and interpretation of findings
- Recommended actions for addressing the problem
Based on this report, you can proceed toward implementing a solution.
Information/Training Design
Aprinda offers design and development services
for training and other information-based solutions. If the solution
to a given problem involves the design of information products
such as training materials, reference materials for use on the
job (job aids), videos, presentation materials, etc., Aprinda lays out the blueprint for design and generates a
prototype of the final product.
Typically, Aprinda will work with you and/or a
subject matter expert (SME) you designate to clearly define the
nature of the information materials and create prototypes of all
materials specified as part of the overall solution. The product
of this activity depends on the nature of the materials we are
designing. For example:
-
Training Materials: Design document
listing learner characteristics, objectives, instructional
strategies, prototypes of training materials to be created
-
Presentation Materials: Sample electronic presentation
materials, handouts, draft graphics
-
CD-Rom and Web-Based Solutions: Visual design,
site architecture, functional specifications
-
Job aids: Descriptions of audience, tasks, intended
mode of use, and media to be used
-
Video: Video treatment and storyboard
We also produce blended solutions, combining more than one of
the above media types into a product that best meets your needs.
Information/Training Development
This begins after you agree to the look and feel of materials
generated during the design phase. The product of this activity
includes final versions of all materials. For example, final materials
generated for a training program may include masters of the Instructors
Guide, Employee Handbook, Videotape, Job Aids, Web Site, etc.
The form in which materials are submitted is negotiable. You
may request all materials in electronic form for ease of revision
in addition to one hard copy master of each component. Duplicating
materials is often least expensive by using your organizations
customary printing vendors and videotape duplicating services.
Aprinda conducts ongoing formative evaluation activities
throughout the design and development phases of all projects.
These activities include subject matter expert review, user testing,
and formal alpha and beta testing when necessary.
Formative evaluation activities are documented in status reports.
Findings that suggest immediate changes to current plans are brought
to your attention as quickly as possible to avoid unnecessary
delay and expense.
Time and Materials. You can access our resources on a
time and materials basis. In such engagements, you have complete
flexibility in working with our Associates. You will be billed
for time and materials on a monthly basis.
Fixed Bid. This model provides the framework in which
you are assured of quality deliverables, within budget, on schedule.
The fixed bid amount is billed in installments keyed to the project
start and major deliverables.
Aprinda contracts separately for needs assessment
activities. By separating needs assessment activities from design
and development activities, Aprinda offers you the
freedom to either select a different vendor for design and development,
or implement the recommended solution in-house.
